Key ingredients

  • Hinokitiol (Beta-T)
Hinokitiol is Riversol’s signature antioxidant, derived from the Pacific red cedar. Riversol founder and award-winning dermatologist Dr. Jason Rivers was first introduced to its potential during his time teaching at UBC, and made it the foundation of Riversol formulas. Known for its antioxidant properties, hinokitiol helps improve skin clarity, brighten the look of dark spots and support a more even-looking complexion.

  • Vitamin E
Also known as "the protector", Vitamin E it is a potent antioxidant, well documented to help reduce the look of sun damage in sensitive skin, while hydrating and replenishing the skin's moisture barrier.

  • Glycolic Acid
Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) known for its exfoliating properties. It helps lift away dead skin cells from the skin’s surface to reveal a brighter, smoother-looking complexion. It leaves skin feeling instantly softer and, with continued use, helps improve the look of clarity, radiance and texture.

Revive & Renew Two-Step Restorative Treatment Pack FAQ

What is Hinokitiol (Beta-T)?

Hinokitiol (Beta-T) is our signature antioxidant found in the Pacific red cedar. Studied for decades, it has been proven to have natural antibiotic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and other natural skin-revitalizing properties. It helps even skin tone, reduce the look of sun damage and help correct dark spots.

Is Riversol hypoallergenic?

All Riversol products are produced and tested to the highest standards of tolerance on sensitive skin. They are hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, colorant-free and cruelty free.

Is this suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes. Riversol products are dermatologist-developed for sensitive skin. Dr. Jason Rivers first created Riversol for patients who struggled to find skincare that delivered results without unnecessary irritation. That same philosophy guides our fragrance-free, paraben-free formulas, made with low-irritant ingredients chosen to support skin comfort.

Can I use retinols with acid peels?

To help minimize irritation, do not layer this product with other retinol products or acids like Exfoliating Glycolic Peel on the same day. Apply them on separate days instead.

How often should I use Exfoliating Glycolic Peel?

Use Exfoliating Glycolic Peel twice a week in the evenings. If you're new to acid treatments, start with once a week and work your way up to twice a week.

Do not use retinols on the same evening you apply Exfoliating Glycolic Peels.

Are there any precautions I should take when using Exfoliating Glycolic Peel?

Glycolic acid can make skin more sensitive to sunlight. We strongly recommend that you use an SPF 30 or higher sunscreen, limit your sun exposure and wear protective clothing.

Do not use retinol products on the same evening you apply Exfoliating Glycolic Peel.

Can I use Exfoliating Glycolic Peel with other acids or retinol products?

To help minimize irritation, do not layer Exfoliating Glycolic Peel with other acid or strong retinol products on the same day. Apply them on separate days instead.

Can I use Redness Calming Mask with retinols?

Yes. Redness Calming Mask pairs well with retinol and can be a helpful addition to your routine, especially if your skin needs extra hydration and barrier support. It is our most intensely hydrating mask, formulated with ceramides, fatty acids, cholesterol, squalane and niacinamide.

If using it as an overnight mask:
Cleanser > Serum > Retinol Treatment > Redness Calming Mask

If using it as a 30-minute mask:
Cleanser > Redness Calming Mask (30 minutes) > Cleanser > Serum > Retinol Treatment > Moisturizer

I don't have redness. Can I use this mask?

Redness Calming Mask is also well suited to sensitive, dehydrated and mature skin. It is formulated with an optimized ratio of fatty acids, cholesterol and three ceramides to help replenish barrier lipids and support the skin’s natural moisture barrier. Because these lipids are naturally present in the skin, they are well absorbed and particularly beneficial for skin experiencing dryness, sensitivity or age-related barrier decline.

The formula also contains plant-based squalane to support hydration, niacinamide to help strengthen the skin barrier and reduce the look of redness and discoloration, glycyrrhetinic acid from licorice root to help calm visible irritation, and cica (tiger grass) to support skin comfort and recovery.
