Hinokitiol is Riversol’s signature antioxidant, derived from the Pacific red cedar. What is hinokitiol?

Hinokitiol is our signature antioxidant, found naturally in the Pacific Red Cedar and studied for decades. It's a natural antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant with other skin-revitalizing properties, and in our formulas it helps to even skin tone, reduce the look of sun damage and correct dark spots.

Is it made for sensitive skin?

Yes. Riversol was founded by Vancouver dermatologist Dr. Jason Rivers for sensitive skin, and our formulas have no added fragrance, including masking scents. Fragrance is one of the most common causes of skin irritation. Each formula is reviewed and approved by Dr. Rivers.

Is Riversol hypoallergenic?

Our skincare products are produced and tested to the highest standards of tolerance on sensitive skin. They are hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, colorant-free and cruelty free.

Cream or gel cleanser: which is right for my skin?

Choose by skin type. Hydrating Cream Cleanser is a low-foaming cream for normal to dry and very dry skin. Refreshing Gel Cleanser is a low-foaming gel for oily and combination skin. Both remove dirt, sunscreen and everyday makeup without stripping your skin, and both are made for morning and night use.

What are the key ingredients in Anti-Aging Serum?

Our daily antioxidant vitamin C Anti-Aging Serum is formulated with hinokitiol, vitamin E and a photostable vitamin C that is 10 times more stable than traditional forms. It delivers lasting antioxidant protection and visible results while keeping skin comfortable.

Daily Cream, Concentrate or Lightweight: which suits my skin?

Choose by skin type. Daily Moisturizing Cream is a silky cream for normal to dry and combination skin. Moisturizing Concentrate is our richest formula, a thick balm for very dry skin and harsh, dry winters. Lightweight Moisturizing Lotion is a light lotion for oily or breakout-prone skin. If your skin changes with the seasons, you can switch between them.

How much moisturizer should I use per application?

Apply a pea-sized amount on a freshly-cleansed face. Use twice a day, morning and night. For best results, pair with a targeted serum.

How often should I use it?

Up to twice a week, in the evening. If you're new to acid treatments, use it once a week for the first 2 weeks. Glycolic acid can make skin more sensitive to the sun, so wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher every morning while you're using it, and for a week after you stop.
