About Dr. Jason Rivers

Dr. Jason Rivers is a well-known and internationally-respected Canadian dermatologist. He gained this reputation through:

  1. Dedication to public awareness of sun and skin issues for the past 17 years.
  2. Extensive scientific research (135 papers published so far).
  3. Fellowship work with major skin cancer organizations in New York and Australia, (The Skin Cancer Foundation and the Sydney Melanoma Unit respectively).
  4. His years as a Professor of Dermatology at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and in practice at UBC's Skin Care Clinic in Vancouver.

Focus on cosmetic dermatology - A new clinic, a new skin care line

In January 2007, Dr. Rivers, who has a special interest and many years of experience in cosmetic and laser dermatology, established a state-of-the-art, cosmetic dermatology practice in downtown Vancouver, Pacific Dermaesthetics.

The clinic, operated with Dr. Rivers' colleague, Dr. William McGillivray, is the largest of its kind in Canada.

Dr. Rivers also launched his personally-developed skin care line, Riversol.

Continuing roles:

  1. Dr. Rivers is on Staff at the British Columbia Cancer Agency, Vancouver General Hospital and St. Paul's Hospital.
  2. " After heading up the Canadian Dermatology Association's National Sun Awareness Program for seven years, Dr. Rivers currently serves as BC Program Director.

Recognition and leadership

  1. Dr. Rivers is a recipient of the Canadian Dermatology Association's President's Cup for Outstanding Volunteer Achievement. He was also awarded the American Academy of Dermatology's Gold Triangle Award for Excellence in Public Education. Dr. Rivers has been recognized by his peers as one of Canada's Best Doctors (www.bestdoctors.com).
  2. Dr. Rivers co-chaired a recent World Congress of Dermatology meeting in Vancouver, B.C. He is also editor of the Journal of Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery and associate editor of The Skin Therapy Letter.
